FAQ

  • Every individual is one of a kind; therefore 10-12 sessions or even more sessions may be needed.
  • Statistically wise this is an average according to the beauty industry standards.  This doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed clearance, you might need more than 12 sessions if need be.
  • Facial hair are mostly hormonal and other intimate parts of the body where nutrients through the blood distributed throughout the human body, nourishes the hair to grow.
  • In this case the science behind the laser hair removal assists by cutting off the blood supply of nutrients from allowing the hair to grow out coarse and thick; instead it damages some of the hair follicles after each session (reminder on the anagen growth stage that the laser only tackles).
  • This is the most important part of your laser hair removal treatment regardless if you have done laser elsewhere before, in the consultation we check through your medical history, evaluate your skin and hair to ensure you are suitable and answer any questions you may have regarding treatment.
  • We want to make sure you have all the necessary information to allow you to make an informed decision that laser is right for you. After your 30-40min. complementary consultation you should be equipped with all the knowledge you need to understand how laser works and the science behind it.
  • Your patch test is also vitally important as it allows us to test your skin for any sensitivity from the laser and also will ensure you are a suitable candidate for treatment.
  • If you are putting your trust in us and investing in Laser we feel it’s only right that we invest the time to explain things fully and make sure all your questions are answered.
It is Complementary. Yes you read right. 30-40min. Laser Consultation + patch test - is FREE.
  • Once you start puberty.
  • However there is a strong possibility that there might be hair regrowth if any hormonal changes do occur.
  • Younger individuals hormones fluctuate during puberty however adults too.
  • Any form of hormonal imbalances can influence Laser Hair Removal.
Yes you can. However we do require written permission from your parent(s) or guardian(s).
Yes! However PCOS/Endometriosis conditions are known as hormonal imbalances.
  • Should you NOT be treating such conditions with necessary medication advised by your family doctor.
  • Bare in mind that Laser Hair Removal can take much longer to experience progress especially on the face as it is a hormonal part of the body!
  • Every individuals body chemistry reacts different to Laser Hair Removal.
  • Some respond faster than others and some respond slower!
  • Required medication prescribed for PCOS/Endometriosis is necessary for hormonal balances.
Hormones come out to play during the time of:
  • Trying to conceive
  • Taking in supplements in preparation for baby
  • During the time of pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding
  • All the above MAY CAUSE HAIR GROWTH!
In overall conclusion it is not recommended to consider Laser Hair Removal when trying to conceive up until after 1 year of breastfeeding before you may start laser hair removal.
It all depends how far you got into your Laser Hair Removal Journey.
  • Should you have gone far - Close to the end of your Laser Journey, the hair growth won't be the same as what it was before.  However there can be hair regrowth during your pregnancy due to hormonal changes.
  • Should you have just started - Unfortunately the hair will grow back as there was not enough time to continue your Laser Journey and taking in the necessary supplementation for baby can influence hair regrowth.
  • Should you have stretched out sessions in between your Laser Journey (which is not ideal) - That may affect the Laser not to be so effective even if you had done a lot of sessions then the hair can grow back most definitely.
  • Hormonal Imbalances can still occur during pregnancy hence it is unpredictable as to how your individual hormonal body chemistry may react to hair regrowth.
Every Individuals Hormonal Body Chemistry is different:
  • You can not compare ones progress to an other persons progress.
  • Each and every individuals progress with Laser Hair Removal is quite unpredictable to predict in advance of how many sessions they may need.
  • Only time and patience will tell as to how Laser Hair Removal will react to ones body chemistry.
Should you have Hormonal Imbalances such as PCOS, Endometriosis, Thyroid problems, etc.  Ensure to take in the necessary medication prescribed from your medical practitioner to assist with your Laser Hair Removal treatments however take note that Laser treatments can take longer due to Hormonal imbalances.

Hair Growth Cycle

Hair on the scalp grows about .3 to .4 mm/day. Unlike other mammals, human hair growth and shedding is random and not seasonal or repeated. At any given time, a random number of hairs will be in one of three stages of growth and shedding: anagen, catagen, and telogen.
  • Anagen - Anagen is the active phase of the hair. The cells in the root of the hair are dividing rapidly. A new hair is formed and pushes the club hair (a hair that has stopped growing or is no longer in the anagen phase) up the follicle and eventually out.  During this phase the hair grows about 1 cm every 28 days. Scalp hair stays in this active phase of growth for two to six years. Some people have difficulty growing their hair beyond a certain length because they have a short active phase of growth. On the other hand, people with very long hair have a long active phase of growth. The hair on the arms, legs, eyelashes, and eyebrows have a very short active growth phase of about 30 to 45 days, explaining why they are so much shorter than scalp hair.
  • Catagen - Catagen phase is a transitional stage and about 3% of all hairs are in this phase at any time. This phase lasts for about two to three weeks. Growth stops and the outer root sheath shrinks and attaches to the root of the hair. This is the formation of what is known as a club hair.
  • Telogen - Telogen is the resting phase and usually accounts for 6% to 8% of all hairs. This phase lasts for about 100 days for hairs on the scalp and longer for hairs on the eyebrows, eyelash's, arms, and legs. During this phase, the hair follicle is completely at rest and the club hair is completely formed. Pulling out a hair in this phase will reveal a solid, hard, dry, white material at the root. About 25 to 100 telogen hairs are shed normally each day.
The Anagen phase is the active growth phase.
  • This is the only phase where laser hair removal is effective. Only 20% of hair is actively growing during one Anagen growth phase, hence why multiple treatments are necessary and on time to be effective for long-term results.
Each follicle is independent and goes through the growth cycle at different times so you don’t lose patches of hair all at once it takes time and only sheds 50-100 hairs each day.
Yes! However the Laser doesn't pick up white, blonde, red and grey hair. Coarse and Dark hair has a quicker response rate. Finer hair can take longer to respond to treatment due to its faint colour pigment and finely textured hair.
Yes! The Painless Laser Hair Removal caters to all skin types with the latest updated technology Laser Lux Pro 3 Wave Diode Laser.
It is not recommended. If you currently have cancer and/or have a previous history of cancer. It is required to get a written approval from your oncologist should you want to proceed.
  • No! There will be a waiting period of 6 months after the completion of your Accutane treatment and a written consent from your family doctor in order to proceed with the procedure.
  • Reason for this as any sort of acne medication prescribed close to Accutane thins out the skin and makes it extra fragile.  Should the laser technician not be notified of such medications being disclosed during your complementary consultation; laser burns can occur.
  • ALL MEDICATIONS SHOULD BE DISCLOSED FOR YOUR SAFETY and remains confidential.  Safety precautions on proceeding with laser hair removal after 6 months waiting period making use of Accutane, Oratane, etc.
The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) examines, tests and approves a wide range of items for medical use, including drugs and medical appliances. In the simplest terms, "FDA approval" means that the FDA has decided that the benefits of the approved item outweigh the potential risk for the item's planned use.
1% statistically - People do not respond to laser hair removal treatment. This is rare but possible in very few people.
  • No!  The hair will not fall out immediately!
  • It can take up to 3-4 weeks for the hair to shed on its own depending on the cycle of hair growth it is in.  It is not an overnight solution, the science behind it takes time and can't be rushed, that is how the laser technology works.
  • However it doesn't mean all the exposed hair on the surface of the skin will shed (the area(s) of concern worked on). The hair that is targeted by the laser in the anagen phase (growth hair cycle) will gradually shed during your laser journey; it takes time and its part of the process.
  • Slower hair regrowth
  • Patches of hair and spaced out hair growth
  • Fine and soft hair in texture.
  • Lighter skin gradually occurs, where dark creases may have occurred in intimate regions such as in the underarms and bikini line regions.
  • Underarms regions - May experience less sweat and less body odour.
  • Less shaving and trimming within time which makes it easier.
  • Forget that you even had hair and don't notice the hair as what it was like before.
  • Your skin is less irritated, should hair have been very coarse and thick before laser.
  • Ingrown hairs become less gradually.
  • Your hair free periods in between your sessions are increasing dramatically.
  • This is normal towards the end of your laser journey, fine hair with a light pigment that is faint and soft can take time, its part of the process that can't be rushed.  Some hair may grow out finer, spaced out or in random patches.
  • The fine hair can be stubborn towards the end of your journey, some few fine hairs can remain, not all of it will go away, as the hair is faint (light in pigment) and may need more sessions.  Some hair may grow back over time. But at this point it will be a lot finer in colour and texture. Some people need more sessions than others.
  • Hormonal parts of the body can take longer to react to treatment referring to ones unique body chemistry.  This is due to the anagen stage of hair growth that occurs between 4-6 week intervals depending which part of the body.
  • Which means that maintenance touch ups are necessary in future to target the remaining hair that you would like to target.
  • If there has been any lifestyle changes such as supplements, medication, hormonal imbalances and/ or trying to conceive; these factors can influence hair to grow.
  • Towards the end of the laser journey, your hair will remain fine and not go back to its original state as what it was before when you started laser however bare in mind the potential of lifestyle changes and ones body chemistry can vary.
  • Ensure to shave the area(s) being worked on; is prepared before each and every laser session to ensure the hair is not too long!  This is to avoid skin sensitivity before the laser session!
  • Ladies & Men - Freshly shaven hair on the body 1-2 days prior to treatment.
  • Ladies - Trim facial hair preferably, freshly trimmed hair towards the skins surface (short as possible).
  • Men - Shave facial hair, freshly shaven hair.
  • Exfoliation is necessary 1-2 times a week to prevent dead skin cells from building up and hair from getting trapped underneath the skin, but tight clothing and spanks can encourage hair to get trapped and cause ingrowns.
  • Treatments may have potentially been stretched out too long, not coming in when the hair is due.  Life happens we're all human, life gets ahead of us, we get sick or forget our appointments and then forget to reschedule or your laser journey may be taking a bit longer than expected due to hormonal changes in the body.
  • However the hair doesn't wait when you're ready to come in for your next laser session unfortunately, as a result the hair cycles will overlap and the treatment won't be as effective as it should be.  The blood supply to the hair follicles provides nutrients for the growth stage to grow.
  • Solution – For the laser to destroy the root, the follicle has to be at a specific stage of its growth. So not too early and not too late as advised. To get back to the momentum of ones progress is to catch up with the next laser session as soon as you can.
  • The laser will be pointless, you will be wasting your time and money on laser treatments should you wax in between sessions.
  • The hair is needed inside the hair follicle in order to destroy the pigment of the hair from the root - That is the science behind the laser technology for it to work effectively.
  • Only shaving and/or trimming may be done in between your laser journey!
The laser light frequency can damage your eyes and you can become blind.  Its important to wear the protective laser glasses/goggles to ensure you don't see the laser light.
Yes, this is normal. Depending what your pain threshold is and how strong the hair growth is, it is absolutely normal.  It can take up to a few hours to possibly a day or two should your skin be sensitive. Should you experience discomfort after each session, its advised to get the soothing Resurfacing balm as an after care product to make use of at home.  No other alternative fragranced creams may be used as it will irritate the skin.
We have the Resurfacing Balm, which is a soothing balm to calm down the skin. No fragranced creams may be used after a laser session, as it may aggravate and irritate the skin.
Between 3-6 Sessions within a 12 month period after your last session; possibly more if need be due to lifestyle changes.
Prescribed Medications such as Accutane, hydrocortisone, retinol, differin, occutane and other medications; any creams and/or anti-depressant medication must be disclosed. Treatments such as micro-needling, vampire facials, chemical peels, botox, fillers done at other salons/ clinics must be disclosed throughout your consultation.

Laser Technology

A Laser Lux Pro 3 Wave Diode Laser Hair Removal - 755nm, 808nm and 1064nm. Caters to ALL Skin Types.
This specific laser machine specialises in all hair and skin types which is most effective at removing hair from deep down the hair follicle. The light from the laser penetrates deeper into the hair and it has a more concentrated light which is more effective in removing the pigment of the hair.
It is the wavelength measured in nanometers, this Diode 755nm, 808nm, 1064nm Laser Hair Removal machine makes it possible to work on light, medium and dark skin tones.
No it isn’t. IPL only specialises in light to medium colour skin and dark hair whereas the 755nm, 808nm, 1064nm Diode Laser Lux penetrates light to fully remove the hair from the root. IPL is an intense pulsating light which is less effective as it only reduces the hair superficially and not removing the hair effectively on a deeper level.

Hygiene

  • Equipment will be disinfected before and after each client. We will always ensure fresh clean towels.
  • Equipment will be disinfected in front of each client, before the machine comes into contact with the skin, giving you peace of mind.
  • Disposable underwear will be provided (if necessary depending on the treatment).
  • A pair protective glasses will be provided to protect your eyes throughout the session.  The laser technician will also be wearing protective glasses.
  • It would be highly advised to have only the client pop in for their treatment, and no additional friends nor family attending the treatment as a safety precaution for safety regulations and public discretion.

Treatment Experience

  • No it doesn't hurt, however the closest to sensation is a warm sensation to a tingling sensation which is painless.
  • Most people have this perception that Laser Hair Removal is painful and unbearable, but it is not.  The Laser Lux Pro 3 Wave allows it to be quick, easy and painless.
  • Slight tingles, subtle pins and needles effect.  A warm sensation of a little heat but bearable. The Laser Technician will regularly check up on you throughout the session and ensure you are comfortable with the settings.
  • The Laser Lux Pro has a built in sapphire cooling system which will be felt from time to time, providing a cooling sensation which soothes and comforts the skin.
  • Laser is most effective and helpful to remove ingrown hairs or even shaving bumps, strawberry legs they like to call it (should your skin come out with a rash after shaving).
  • What the Laser does is, it destroys hair follicles at the root of the hair itself and doesn't get a chance to form an ingrown hair again however within time the hairs become thinner and lighter; slowly but surely stopping it from happening again.
  • It is important to note that laser is not an overnight solution to this condition but within time it can reduce ingrown hairs and prevent them from forming.  Consistency and Patience is key.
Every individual is one of a kind; therefore it may vary between 10-12 sessions or even longer.  Statistics wise this is an average according to the beauty industry standards.  This doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed clearance, you might need more than 12 sessions if need be. Here is a rough guideline to certain parts of the body:
  • Face/Neck:  3-4 weeks; 8 to 12+ sessions
  • Brazilian/Hollywood:  3-4 weeks; 8 to 12+ sessions
  • Chest/Tummy/Back:  4-6 weeks; 8 to 12+ sessions
  • Arms/Legs/: 4-6 weeks; 8 to 12+ sessions
Yes! It is extremely important that recurring treatments be done on time:
    • Small Areas:  3-4 weeks
    • Big Areas: 4-6 weeks
In order to see progress on unwanted hair - Interval sessions are advised to be booked in advance; to ensure availability and progress.
  • Changes in medication that cause hormone imbalances.
  • Missed and/or stretched out scheduled appointments can cause new hair growth.
  • For women and men, the face may take longer due to hormonal changes as previously mentioned.
  • Hormonal drugs can affect hormone secretion, endocrine system disorders, it will affect hair growth, melanin activity will be affected by hormones. Successful treatments may take longer.
  • It is advised that hormonal condition(s) has been addressed with your doctor and that you are receiving prescribed hormonal medical treatment, if not it can influence the treatment to take even longer to see progress.
  • We cannot predict how your body will react to treatment, no individual can be compared with progress, everyone is different, hence that is why it may vary between 10-12 sessions or more sessions may be needed.
  • It applies to men as well, high testosterone levels can delay the laser progress.
  • Steroid injections are in conflict with laser hair removal, it is temporary and most likely can experience hair regrowth in future; should such steroid injections be continued as it contributes in encouraging hair regrowth unfortunately.
  • Supplements such as Folic acid can encourage hair regrowth.

After Treatment

It takes approximately between 2-3 weeks to see the hair shed by itself after one treatment. This is where you don’t get involved in the process, allow the hair to naturally shed on its own. Complete your Laser Hair Removal Sessions on time to see progress:
  • Once sessions are stretched out for way too long; expected hair growth can occur!
  • We know that life happens, however the hair doesn't wait for when you are ready for your next session.
  • Hair grows fast on small areas from 3-4 weeks and big areas grow from 4-6 weeks.
  • REMINDER: Laser Hair Removal works on the Growth Stage of the hair cycle (known as the Anagen phase).
If possible give the treated area(s) a break for at least 48 HRS after the laser session until you shave again. Giving it a break on the treated area(s) that may feel irritated due to:
  • Just recently recovering from being sick.
  • Feeling highly stressed, dehydrated and not sleeping well lately.
  • Feeling extra sensitive; close to your menstrual cycle which is normal - This one is for the Ladies!
  • Skin looking more flushed than regularly.
  • Many factors such as new hair growth being tackled, pain threshold sensitive, stress, feeling emotional and/ physically exhausted - Both Ladies and Men!
After a few sessions being done - This is absolutely normal.
  • Expected regrowth can occur as there is three stages of hair growth in the human body where the Anagen Growth Stage is only targeted by the laser hair removal!
  • For best results we recommend that you follow our recommended guidelines to keep up the momentum with your Personal Laser Hair Removal Journey.
No other hair removal methods may be used on the treated area(s):
  • The hair must remain in the hair follicle.
  • No waxing, plucking, epilating, threading and depilatory agents after treatment in between laser sessions as it will disturb the progress.
  • The only exception would be shaving or trimming as it removes the hair superficially from the surface of the skin.
  • Avoid scratching and picking on the area(s) treated as this is tampering with the laser progress.
  • Avoid direct exposure to the sun after treatment as much as possible.
  • Apply an SPF 50 at least 20 minutes prior to going out in the sun.
  • Ensure you travel with an SPF to your convenience, pop one in the bag and in the car as a back up.
  • This is to avoid dark or light spots to appear on the area treated with the Laser.
  • To limit the damage to the skin, take extra special care on the area(s) treated.
  • Ensure to use an SPF 50 everyday on all area(s) treated with the Laser - 2 to 3 times a day if need be.
  • Skin that is exposed to smartphones, computer/television screens and tablets on a regular basis, blue light screens causes UV damage, age spots, dark spots and reduces skin elasticity.
  • Ensure to lower the brightness levels on an electronic device that your skin is exposed to.
Avoid fragranced creams, lotions, deodorant and make-up for at least 24 HRS to avoid skin irritation.
  • Please don't come in for a laser treatment should you be menstruating; due to hygiene purposes.  Especially when its needed to work on the Hollywood/Brazilian region of the body. Notify us and reschedule your treatment for another day.
  • Preferably do not donate blood before a laser session; as you may feel fragile, weak and super sensitive.
  • Please do not shave on the same day as your scheduled appointment as the skin may feel very raw and tender with the exposed heat from the laser treatment on the regions being worked on.
  • Avoid steam rooms, saunas, heated rooms, exercising and avoid very hot water for at least 48 HRS.
  • Avoid chlorine water for at least 48 HRS, as laser treatments make use of heat to destroy hair follicles, thus it can increase skin irritation and possible skin infection.
Yes!  As long as you make use of a fresh make-up sponge before applying foundation as a used sponge can contaminate the skin. Ensure to apply a moisturiser to hydrate your skin effectively which will help with discomfort and use a good SPF50 is ideal to protect the skin from Hyper-Pigmentation.
Yes, definitely! There is no downtime which means that there is no need to let that area relax for a while up until you continue the rest of your day. You can go back to your day as normal, it's that comfortable.
You may have a shower, however ensure that you gently wash with a mild soap and in luke-warm water.  Avoid very hot water. Preferably pat dry the skin and do not rub it. Please advise if your underarms were treated, take special care by not applying any deodorant for at least 24 hours after the treatment as it can  cause skin irritation.  Rather make use of the recommended Resurfacing Balm to reduce the skin irritation.
No!  Shaving and Trimming/Clipping hair may be done during the course of Laser Hair Removal Treatments. Shave body - Both Ladies and Men. Ladies - Preferably trim/clip the facial hairs Men - Shave facial hair.
That is perfectly normal for that to occur. Should the skin be irritated, you may use the recommended Resurfacing Balm which assists in comforting the skin from skin irritation. It is highly advised that you apply a post lotion twice a day for 3 days to ensure skin is well nourished and moisturised on the treated area.
Yes.  You might experience the following:
  • Skin redness and irritation - redness and skin irritation are very common in laser hair removal. It is even more common if you are getting it done on a relatively sensitive area of your body.
  • Changes in skin pigmentation - you might also notice changes in your skin tone after the treatment. If you have a light coloured skin tone, you might notice dark spots on your skin. If you have a dark complexion, you might notice lighter spots on your skin. These changes are usually temporary.
  • Flare of acne.
  • Swelling around the follicle - this is a normal reaction.
Yes. It all depends on your individual body chemistry due to hormonal changes that might occur, examples such as hormonal medication, new lifestyle changes, steroid injections, supplements encouraging hair regrowth, pregnancy, menopause, puberty, etc. Further questions, check out the Home Care page which entails everything you need to know.
When the skin is exposed to smartphones, computers and tablets on a regular basis. It has a huge influence due to the screen light causing UV damage, age spots, dark spots and reducing skin elasticity. It is important to lower the brightness levels on your electrical device to avoid concentrated light on the skin. Hence that is why it is needed to apply an SPF 50 everyday.
